Belgravia Group’s Roadmap to Reopening as COVID-19 Restrictions Ease
The Belgravia Group – which includes Belgravia Health and Fitness, and Belgravia Leisure – has announced that it will begin a gradual reopening of its facilities. The move is in response to the federal government’s lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
In March, the group swiftly responded to the temporary government mandated closures, shutting all its leisure centres and pools to ensure there were no COVID-19 community transmissions.
During the stage one restrictions, the group’s leisure centres operated with skeleton staff, focusing on a staged action plan towards reopening a safe and COVID-free environment for each of its local communities.
The group’s action plan was created to align with government and industry body guidelines, including clear guidance for facilities on how to manage a potential COVID-19 incident, daily checklists and enhanced deep cleaning instructions.
Facility reopens begin
On Monday, 18 May Genesis Health + Fitness – a subsidiary of Belgravia Health and Fitness – reopened its five Western Australia clubs. The reopening coincided with the Western Australia government’s move to its stage two easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
In line with the stage two restrictions, the five clubs – Belmont, Bentley, Bull Creek, Byford and Kelmscott – are running supervised group fitness, strength classes and Coaching Zone sessions for its members, with a maximum of 20 people in each club at the one time.
Genesis Health + Fitness Kelmscott member Chantal, was as one of the first to attend a supervised class on Monday saying, “I’m so excited about the sense of normalcy I feel now that I’m back here. I’ve missed the connection with other gym goers and staff; and having a place that allows me to really focus on how I feel mentally, emotionally and of course, physically.”

Belgravia Leisure’s golf facilities in South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia are all currently open and operating under strict social distancing guidelines to prevent community transmission.
From Wednesday, 20 May, Queensland facilities Mackay Aquatic Recreation Complex, Pioneer Swim Centre and Tobruk Memorial Pool reopened.
They reopened with some restrictions including:
• Card payments only
• Restrictions per lane for casual swimmers
• Increased regularity of cleaning in each facility
• Shower facilities temporarily unavailable
• Sauna and steam room facilities closed
• Bookings required for all classes
Belgravia Leisure CEO Nick Cox said that while it was exciting to be able to reopen facilities in some states, it was important to remain vigilant of any possible infection. “Our golf courses and leisure facilities are essential for the health and wellbeing of local communities. They provide much needed support for the community.
While our facilities will operate with restrictions until government guidelines are eased, we are pleased to be able to once again connect local communities to leisure.”
