Two locals in the City of Whittlesea have been recognised for their remarkable achievements and making a positive impact on the wellbeing of individuals within their local communities.

Mill Park Leisure’s (MPL) Carol Andrews and Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre’s (TRAC) Jeffrey Pearce have both been named state finalists in the prestigious AUSactive Awards and are now in the running to take home national awards in September.

Mill Park Leisure’s Carol Andrews has been named state finalist as Victoria’s AUSactive Group Exercise Leader. Fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, her passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals makes her a deserving award recipient.

“Although it is an honour to be recognised, it is more about the impact that I and other dedicated instructors can have on the community,” said Carol. “Having a positive impact on our members’ health and well-being still motivates me after 40 years in the industry.”

As a Group Exercise Leader, Carol’s strength lies in her continuous growth and impact at Mill Park Leisure with the ability to motivate and inspire diverse participants in various fitness programs resulting in positive transformations and achievements.

Working across both TRAC and MPL, Jeffrey Pearce has been named Victoria’s AUSactive Aqua Professional of the Year. As a Group Fitness Instructor for nearly 20 years, Jeffrey is also a qualified lifeguard dedicated to ensuring the safety of members and guests.  Teaching every class like it’s his last, he is passionate about helping members of the community achieve their health and wellness goals.

“Seeing a full house with 40 people all smiling, ready to work out and have fun, makes my day,” said Jeffrey. “It really is great recognition for the community as my job isn’t about me but those who have given me this amazing role and I am forever thankful. Everyone in my class is treated like a VIP.”

Jeffrey’s passion is contagious and gets every inch of effort from each participant whilst ensuring everyone is having lots of fun. With a loyal following and a high occupancy rate in his classes, those who participate enjoy their time in a fun and positive environment, with the bonus of progressing in their health and wellness journey.
